Angus Australia Membership

Why join Angus Australia?

The goals of Angus Australia are to increase members’ ability to:

1. Produce profitable, world-leading Angus-based cattle and genetics.
2. Develop world-leading Australian Angus genetics.
3. Market world-leading Australian Angus genetics.
4. Produce and market world-leading Australian Angus branded beef.

Angus Australia aims to provide members with excellent service across all our areas of operation. As well as providing access to vital breeding and marketing information, membership also provides members with unique opportunities for education and networking.

A major function of Angus Australia is to maintain and extend its comprehensive pedigree and performance database and make this information available to assist members in the breeding and marketing of their cattle.

There are three categories of membership – Commercial, Full and Angus Youth. Benefits of each level of membership are outlined below:

Full Membership Benefits

As a FULL MEMBER of Angus Australia you can:

  • Breed and register pedigreed Angus seedstock that can be worth several times more
    than unregistered cattle.
  • Performance record in Angus Group Breedplan to generate Estimated Breeding Values
    (EBVs) for your cattle.
  • Participate in the many activities of an organisation that administers the world’s
    second largest performance recorded Angus population.
  • Access education and consultancy services provided by Angus Australia breed development
    and field extension staff.
  • Market and sell pedigreed Angus bulls, females, semen and embryos. Around 7500
    Angus bulls are sold at auction every year in Australia at an average price of $4500.
  • Offer cattle through Angus Australia’s regular online Angus Plus Seedstock and Commercial
    sales.
  • Be part of an international affiliation of Angus breeders.
  • Enjoy Certified Australian Angus Beef (CAAB®) at wholesale prices through members
    only CAAB Shareholder Packs.
  • Be a designated supplier to the premium producing Certified Australian Angus Beef
    (CAAB®) branded beef program.
  • Be a user of the yellow AA Angus Assured™ tags and the blue AA Angus Sired™ tags.
  • Be a vendor in live export programs certified by Angus Australia.

Commercial Membership benefits:

As a COMMERCIAL MEMBER of Angus Australia you can:

  • Be a vendor in the monthly Angus Plus online Angus steer & commercial female sales.
  • Be a designated supplier to the premium producing Certified Australian Angus Beef
    (CAAB®) branded beef program.
  • Be a user of the yellow AA Angus Assured™ tags and the blue AA Angus Sired™ tags.
  • Be a vendor in live export programs certified by Angus Australia.

You will also:

  • Have access to Certified Australian Angus Beef (CAAB®) at wholesale prices through
    members only CAAB Shareholder Packs.
  • Have access to education and consultancy services provided by Angus Australia breed
    development and field extension staff.
  • Be part of an international affiliation of Angus breeders.

Plus, all members also receive these publications:

  • Angus Group Breedplan Report: published once a year listing Estimated Breeding
    Values (EBVs) for growth, carcase and fertility to assist in sire selection. This publication
    contains a plain English explanation on how to use EBVs to your advantage when
    selecting registered Angus bulls.
  • Angus Australian Journal: a high quality annual publication that chronicles the past,
    present and future of the Angus breed.
  • Angus Australia Directory: a guide to the Angus community in Australia. Lists all
    Angus Australia members plus contact details for board members, state committees,
    regional groups and staff.
  • Angus Seedstock Bulletin: a publication that provides vital information to people
    interested in seedstock production and keeps members up to date with Angus Australia
    activities.
  • Angus eNews: a regular email newsletter.

Angus Youth Membership

Angus Youth Membership is available to young beef industry enthusiasts under 25 years of age. With the aim of 'developing beef industry leaders of the future', the Angus Youth program offers a range of opportunities to its members. Angus Youth members receive the same publications as full and commercial members, plus they also receive the Angus Youth newsletter.

As an ANGUS YOUTH MEMBER you can:

  • Improve your beef industry knowledge and skills.
  • Gain experience in teamwork, leadership and communication.
  • Develop skills to help you build a successful beef industry career.
  • Enjoy yourself while you learn.
  • Have the opportunity to apply for international scholarship opportunities.
  • Access the resources of Angus Australia, the country’s biggest
    cattle breed society.
  • Network with beef industry leaders.
  • Meet people your own age with similar interests.
  • Enjoy social and educational events with other Angus Youth members.
  • Keep up to date with developments in the beef industry.

If you join as a FULL ANGUS YOUTH MEMBER you can also:

  • Breed and register pedigreed Angus seedstock.
  • Performance record in Angus Group Breedplan to generate Estimated Breeding
    Values (EBVs) for your cattle.

How to become a member

Simply download and complete the appropriate membership application form and send it to Angus Australia, Locked Bag 11, Armidale, NSW, 2350. Angus Youth membership forms are not currently available for download; if you wish to become an Angus Youth member or have any other queries, please contact Angus Australia on 02 6772 3011 or email.
