BOARD VISITS FEEDLOTS
The Angus Australia board is meeting in the Riverina this week. They are
taking the opportunity to visit two feedlots Rockdale and Prime City.
This will enable them to gain further knowledge on the feedlot industry
to which Angus contributes thousands of cattle.
KATE
READY TO DEPART
Kate Hallawell little knew when she applied for the Semex Michigan Scholarship
in April how quickly her life would change. Now Kate will fly to Canada
early next month to attend the World Angus Forum before taking up her
scholarship at Michigan State University for the US fall semester. Kate,
from northern Victoria, will live in a University College and attend classes
focusing on cattle production and assessment
YOUNG
STOCKMAN APPLICATIONS CLOSE SOON
Applications close on June 30 for the Matthew George Foundation Young
Stockman Award. This award is open to people 18 - 25 years of age, who
are interested in travelling overseas to further their knowledge of the
beef industry.

STATES SHARE IN CAAB® AWARDS
Food service providers from three states were winners in the Molafos CAAB®
Quality Awards announced in Sydney on June 11.
REGIONAL
WORKSHOPS IN NSW
Angus Australia’s members and others interested in strategies to
increase production efficiencies can attend a Regional Update in Rukenvale
on June 28. These workshops will cover genetic advancements, genetic conditions,
management of breeding herds, herd health and marketing.

UPCOMING SALES
The Angus spring series of on property sales commence soon with 62 sales
listed on www.angusaustralia.com.au.
Around 2500 Angus bulls will be on offer with 12 catalogues available
online already. The others will be added progressively as the sales draw
closer. In addition, 13 semen catalogues are also available on the website
covering 150 Australian and international bulls. Full pedigrees and performance
figures appear on the website. Last year pedigrees of the 7000 Angus bulls
in sale catalogues on the website were opened over 200,000 times for an
average of close to 70 openings per bull.

It is not out of the question that correctly completing the National Vendor
Declaration (NVD) could bring Angus producers a premium price.
ROUNDUP
SET FOR WODONGA IN 2010
Preparations are well underway for the next Landfall Angus Youth National
Roundup to be held in Wodonga from January 14-17 2010. Over 120 participants
are expected to attend and with supporters, parents and organisers, around
250 to 300 people are expected for the Roundup Dinner. Details of entries
will be available later in the year but now is the time to start planning
travel for January to Wodonga

Ussher Agricultural Grant - Applications Now Open
Applications are now being taken for the 2009 Bill Ussher Agricultural
Grant. The Grant offers farmers, from family operations in Northern NSW
and Southern Qld the opportunity to recover costs involved in further
studies or research in their chosen agri-field.

members promoting Spring sales.

CATTLE
ASSESSMENT SCHOOLS IN FOUR STATES
Cattle producers in four of the mainland states have the opportunity to
participate in Cattle Assessment Schools organized by Angus Australia’s
state committees and sponsored by Merial.

Bob Dent is currently filling the role of Angus Youth Coordinator after
Jim Klarner resigned recently. Jim had been with Angus Australia for three
years and made a good contribution to the growth of Angus Youth. Bob will
fill in as the Coordinator two days each week until a replacement is appointed.
