TakeStock is an exciting benchmarking tool for the beef seedstock industry. It collates BREEDPLAN and Selection Index information to provide cattle breeders with a report that empowers them to assess and improve the rate of genetic progress in their herds.

TakeStock reports provide seedstock producers with figures for key variables that affect the rate of genetic improvement being made for breeding objectives.

Angus Australia will be running a series of TakeStock workshops October-December. These workshops will include:

• Understanding how Selection Indexes are calculated & choosing the right Selection Indexes for your breeding operation
• Discussing factors that influence the rate of genetic improvement in your herd
• Data recording for genetic progress
• An introduction to TakeStock and interpreting your TakeStock report
• Developing a genetic improvement plan for your herd

The workshops will be interactive with participant discussion and exercises. At the workshop eligible Breedplan members will receive a TakeStock report for their herd. Registration Form

The cost of the workshop will be $110 (inc GST) per person and $55 (inc GST) per person for additional family/staff members from the same enterprise. This includes TakeStock reports, 12 months of support from AA and Breedplan staff, a 78 page workbook access to follow-up resources that will be developed on the Angus Australia website and morning tea/lunch. Angus Australia gratefully acknowledges the financial support received from Meat and Livestock Australia, enabling us to offer our members such a great value proposition.

For enterprises that already have a TakeStock report for their herd the cost of the workshop will be $85 (inc) GST per person and $55 (inc GST) per person for additional family/staff members from the same enterprise
