Breeding Programs for the North Crossbreeding Trial Demonstrates Advantages Results of the Beef CRC, Northern Crossbreeding Project show large benefits for producers using Angus genetics. The programs results were obtained through the breeding of 1,000 Brahman females to sires from nine different breeds over three joining periods. Calves were weaned at six months of age. Angus sired progeny in the trial excelled for the traits measured relating to Birth Weight, Gestation Length, Growth and Carcase Quality. One of the most interesting results from the trial was that the Angus sired progeny were only 6kg in carcase weight lighter than the Charolais sired progeny.
