RED ANGUS REGISTER (RAR) The Red Angus Register (RAR) has been established by Angus Australia for the recording of Red Angus animals. All animals recorded in the Red Angus Register must either be red in colour or proven carriers of the red gene. In addition, they must have at least a three generation pedigree recorded. On the payment of prescribed fees animals recorded in the RAR are eligible for inclusion in Angus GROUP BREEDPLAN. How to record new animals on the RAR ? All Full Members of Angus Australia are eligible to record animals in the RAR. For all new animals to be entered into the RAR a certificate must be provided which contains a three generation pedigree recorded either in an appropriate register of the Red Angus Association of Australia, the Angus Herd Book Register, the Angus Performance Register, or a register maintained by an approved overseas Angus or Red Angus Association. Where ownership is not clearly stated on the three generation pedigree certificate then proof of ownership is required before animals can be recorded on the RAR. The word Red in brackets must be included in the stud name of all red animals recorded in the RAR. Any black-hided red-gene carrier animals recorded in the RAR must have the work black in brackets at the end of its registered name. For further details on Angus Australia Regulations for recording in the HBR see Angus Society Breeding Regulations. Following the initial recording of new females on the RAR, a Calf Record Form is returned to the breeder. This form lists all active females recorded for the herd and provides space for subsequent calf details to be completed and returned to Angus Australia. These details include Calf Ident, Sire Ident, birth date, birth weight (optional) and calving ease score (optional). Pedigree Performance Certificates are provided for all animals recorded in the RAR on written request from the recorded owner. Following the notification of calf details on the Calf Record Form breeders are sent further forms for entry of subsequent performance details (200-Day Wt, 400-Day Wt, etc.) for inclusion in Angus GROUP BREEDPLAN. See Recording Pedigree and Performance Information for further details. What does it cost to record animals
on the RAR ? For breeders wishing to use Angus GROUP BREEDPLAN an enrolment fee of $110.00 is payable. Including historic data Historic performance data on APR animals can be included at a cost of $2.48 per calf (includes 23c GST). If error free data can be electronically entered from a compatible software program then the costs can be reduced. A rebate of $1.10 per animal (less than six months of age when submitted for registration) or $0.55 per animal (more than six months of age when submitted for registration) applies for error free input of calf registration data provided electronically in standard format (via email or computer disk). See Recording Pedigree and Performance Information for further details. Showing of RAR animals More information on the RAR If you require further information about the RAR please
