Recognising times have been tough for farmers and with bull prices reaching record prices, specialist farm insurer Achmea have announced a market-leading stud stock insurance rate of 8% for a 12-month cover. Farmers could save up to $470 for a 3-star 12-month insurance cover for an average bull market price of $6,800ii.

Achmea’s special stud stock insurance rate of 8% for a 3-star 12-month insurance cover is available now. Covering mortality including accidental loss of use, disease and sickness, Achmea’s 12-month stud stock cover is designed to give buyers peace of mind from the moment the hammer falls.

During 2018, Achmea joined forces with Angus Australia, through a multi-year partnership in support of the GenAngus Future Leaders Program, and as such Achmea has developed this cover as a further way to support bull breeders.

So far this year, more than 3,600 Angus bulls were sold across 83 sales. In 2018, more than 9,000 Angus bulls were sold at auction at an average price of $6,837iii.

“As a direct insurer, farmers can partner directly with us which is why we’re in a position to offer the most affordable stud stock insurance currently on the market,” Achmea CEO Emma Thomas said.

“This ensures we remain very competitive against the industry’s main players, particularly as harsher-than-expected seasonal conditions continue to impact farmers’ cashflows right across the country,” Mrs Thomas said.

“This is one of the lowest rates for stud stock insurance the industry has seen in a long time and the perfect opportunity for farmers to have a look at their farm insurance and assess whether they’ve got the best deal on the market.”

“As an insurer established by farmers for farmers, we know that every dollar counts. Having adequate insurance cover, including for valuable livestock, is key to keeping farmers farming.”

“Achmea’s 2018 finalist nomination as Direct General Insurer of the Year demonstrated our growing reputation in the market for service excellence and this is another example of how we deliver for farmers,” Mrs Thomas said.

“The ability to act in our clients’ best interests has been key to our rapid growth in Australia.”

“Achmea Australia supports the development of the beef industry and in particular wants to see the future of the beef industry thrive and as such is willing to support beef breeders for peace of mind and future development,” Angus Australia’s Marketing and Communications Manager, Diana Wood said.
