Angus Leads in Borthwick Trophy
In an excellent prelude to this week’s Royal Melbourne Show, Angus has taken out the HOOF section of the Borthwick Trophy.
Widely recognised as the most prestigious interbreed steer and carcase award in Australia, the Borthwick Trophy recognises the best group of three purebred steers. Judged on the hoof and hook the trophy is awarded to steers with the highest combined live and carcase score.
The competition was judged by Mr Dennis Strachan from Woolworths’ Livestock Procurement team who announced the winners were:
- Saffron Valley Angus of Main Ridge
- Yanco Agricultural School NSW
- Finlay High School NSW
Angus is the feature breed at the Royal Melbourne and the judging of over 150 Angus cattle will take place on Friday 30th September.
