More than 140 participants and their animals will descend on Toowoomba tomorrow, with the Angus Youth National Roundup kicking off on January 16.
Taking place over three days, the Angus Youth Roundup is the premier event for young beef cattle enthusiasts within Australia.
Retuning to Queensland for the first time in six years, the Angus Youth Roundup program includes a series of educational sessions and competitions, along with a number of fun activities held in January each year. The event is open to experienced and novice competitors alike, aged between 8 and 25 years.
The Angus Youth Roundup is unique in the fact that those participants without animals of their own can be provided animals in order to be able to take part in the event. This ensures that as many people as possible have the opportunity to get involved with the event and the great learning environment in promotes.
A large range of prizes and scholarships are also awarded each year at the Roundup to Angus Youth members, including the Trans-Tasman Exchange Scholarship to New Zealand, now in its 25th year.
The program also includes the annual Special Dinner Dance and Parent’s Bus Trip. The Special Dinner Dance will feature a two-course dinner, band and live and silent auctions to raise funds to support the Angus Youth programs.
Angus Australia Youth Development Officer Candice Liddle looks forward to the 2020 event, taking place in Toowoomba for the first time since 2014.
“As someone who attended Roundup growing up, I understand how important the learning experiences I gained at the event, whether it be practical or through the educational programs, had to my development in the industry,” Mrs Liddle said.
“Roundup provides the opportunity to network with likeminded people within an excellent industry, and to learn from incredibly knowledgeable members of the industry across a range of different topics and skill sets.”
