Angus Australia regretfully advises that the 2021 Angus Youth National Roundup has been cancelled due to the uncertain circumstances and restrictions posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. The Roundup will be rescheduled for 13th – 16th January 2022 at Wodonga, Vic.
This decision has been made on the basis of advice from State Governments with regards to interstate travel and the running of events over the coming months due to COVID-19.
Angus Australia Youth Development Officer Candice Liddle said that the decision had not been easy, but it was important that it was made now based on the uncertainty around interstate travel and regulations around the conduct of group events.
“The 2020 Roundup held in Toowoomba Qld had representatives from all states of Australia in attendance and as a truly national event that relies heavily on sponsorship and the supply of cattle to run a successful event.”
“Attempting to host the Roundup in 2021 and adhere to COVID Safe practices, would not allow for a viable event to be conducted.”
“Angus Australia and the Roundup Organising Committee wishes to thank sponsors and stakeholders for the 2021 event and look forward to working with them to ensure a successful event in 2022.”
“We also encourage our members to keep up to date with the Angus Youth website location and social media channels for news in order to be across updates regarding the 2022 Angus Youth National Roundup,” said Ms Liddle.
Roundup 2021 Coordinator Annie Pumpa said the following in regards to the announcement.
“Whilst it will be devastating to not be holding the 2021 Round up in January next year, the postponement is the best option as the health and safety of our competitors, our sponsors and our breeders is of highest priority.
“I thank Angus Australia, Candice Liddle and the Roundup committee for all of their diligent efforts to this point. I look forward to moving into 2021 and working with you all again for the 2022 Roundup.”
Angus Youth members are also encouraged to ‘watch this space’, as the Angus Youth Program looks to bring some great opportunities that can be tackled in these unprecedented times.
