Friday’s Eastern States AuctionsPlus sale (05/02/16) saw a recovery of numbers, up 1500 head on the previous weeks sale.
Exporters caused a hefty push with increased prices across the board as they looked to source cattle outside their usual geographic boundaries along with restockers hungry for quality lines of replacement heifers.
Angus cattle came smashing out of the blocks in Friday’s Eastern States Auctionsplus sale topping all nine of the steers and heifer catergories.
Angus steers in the three heavier categories eclipsed the sale averages by up to 16c/kg, while Angus heifers dominated their categories averaging up to 28c/kg above the sale average for the same divisions.
Angus PTIC females were in strong demand taking top honours in their category and Angus cows and calves topped the sale with a rewarding $2050.

77 Angus steers, 381kg also topped the over 350kg market portion for steers at $1300 (341c/kg)
128 Angus steers, 244kg topped the under 250kg market portion for steers at $1050 (431c/kg)
80 Angus heifers, 354kg topped the 350-400kg market portion for heifers at $1405 (396c/kg)
61 Angus heifers, 185kg topped the under 250kg market portion for heifers at $810 (438c/kg)
116 Angus heifers, 292kg topped the 250-300kg market portion for heifers at $1040 (356c/kg)
23 Angus heifers, 422kg topped the over 400kg market portion for heifers at $1530 (362c/kg)

57 Angus cows 3.5 yrs with calves at foot topped the market at $2050
77 Angus cows 5 yrs with calves at foot topping their market category at $1895
62 Angus cows 6 yrs with calves at foot topping their market category at $1800
