2019 Thomas Foods International Angus Youth National Roundup – Rules and Regulations
In reading the Entry Form and submitting your registration, you agreed to abide by the following Conditions of Entry.
By agreeing to these condition of entry the participant or parent/guardian if participant is under 18 years of age, agree to indemnify the Roundup Committee & Angus Australia against any claim resulting from any accident or sickness that may occur at the event or associated with the event.
Any unacceptable behaviour, as defined by the Roundup Committee, will not be tolerated & may result in disqualification and/or exclusion from the grounds.
The participant, or parent/guardian if participant is under 18 years of age, gives Angus Youth consent to reproduce the photography of the participant in news related items without acknowledgement or payment. This may include printed or electronic form and may be available to a global audience via the internet. The copyright ownership of the photography will be retained by Angus Youth & the photographer.
Management & control of the Roundup will be in the hands of the Organising Committee & the Angus Youth Coordinator & their decision shall be final. Any issues/ complaints arising during or as a result of the event should be addressed directly to the Angus Youth National Roundup Committee
Participants to be between 8 & 25 years inclusive as at 1/1/2019.
Participants must be or must become Angus Youth members to compete.
Participants are encouraged to remain on the grounds for the duration of the event. A security guard will be present and adult supervision of the designated sleeping areas will be provided.
Participants who leave the grounds do so at their own responsibility. The Roundup Committee will take no responsibility for the safety, care or behaviour of any participant who leaves the
By agreeing to these conditions of entry the participant, or parent/guardian if participant is under 18, give permission to be transported by private vehicle to seek medical advice in the case of an emergency.
There will be no smoking in the cattle sheds, toilets, eating area or sleeping area.
No alcohol will be permitted on the grounds. Individuals not abiding to this rule will face immediate disqualification and exclusion from the grounds.
No glass allowed on the grounds.
Adequate footwear must be worn at all times (eg. Boots)
Shirts will be supplied to all participants whose entries are received by the closing date.
Entry fees are refundable prior to the 14th December, 2018 with participant shirt cost deducted. No refunds will be made after the 14th December, 2018.
If the participant is not currently a member of Angus Australia, by completing this form they agree to abide by the Constitution and Regulations of the Angus Society and Angus Youth.
Any form of advertisement is not permitted to be shown in the cattle shed. Unless the advertiser is an official sponsor of the 2019 Angus Youth National Roundup in which case advertising material will be distributed at the discretion of the Roundup Committee. Angus Youth curtains will be hung above the cattle during the Roundup.
All electrical equipment must have an in-line circuit breaker and all power leads must have a current certificate from a registered electrician as required by law.
Decorative pots/flowers are not allowed.
Dividers will NOT be allowed.
Participants under the age of 18 as at the 1st of January, 2019 may only enter one animal each. If space allows, competitors over the age of 18 are permitted to enter up to 2 animals, however must have the understanding that the second animal may be used as a ballot if required. The Roundup committee reserves the right to re-allocate extra animals as ballots, at any time during the Roundup. All competitors will be notified after the closing of entries if we are able to cater for extra animals, after which competitors may apply for an additional entry.
All bulls & heifers must be Black Angus HBR or Red Angus HBR registered with the Angus Australia Society or the Red Angus Society and must comply with the rules and regulations of each
Steers must be at least 50% black or red Angus & have no more than two permanent teeth.
Age of cattle will be taken from the 1st January 2019.
Heifers must be under 24 months of age. Animals with calves at foot are eligible for heifer or cow classes. The maximum age for the calf at foot is 9 months.
Bulls must be under 16 months of age. Handlers of bulls over 12 months of age must be 16 years or older.
To be eligible for the owned and bred class the animal must be registered in the exhibitor’s name & the exhibitor must have bred the animal themselves. You must state on your entry form which animal you wish to enter in this class. Steers are not eligible for the owned & bred class.
Cattle will be divided into classes according to age, sex & the number of entries received.
All cattle must be led with a nose clip/ring & must be tied with a neck strap &secure halter at all times. All bulls over 9 months of age must be fitted with a nose ring.
Cattle must have correct & legible tattoos/brands to be eligible for judging.
You must supply your Property Identification Code (PIC) with your Entry Form. Animals will be recorded on the NLIS database as ‘sighted’ at the Armidale Showgrounds, after the event the cattle will automatically go back to being registered on their pre-Roundup PIC.
A Herd Health Declaration must be submitted for all animals. This form must be received before your entry will be processed.
It is up to the cattle suppliers to take the necessary precautions regarding Pestivirus.
Any animal infected with ringworm must have a vet certificate stating that the animal has been treated or washed in the previous four (4) days with appropriate fungicide. Further washings are to be carried out on the showground under supervision of a committee member.
Liability in relation to any cattle remains with the owner. It is strongly recommended that livestock owners are covered by a current insurance that extends to shows.
