The Angus Sire Benchmarking Program (ASBP) has once again received outstanding support from Angus Australia members through the nomination and entry of 41 new sires to produce the Cohort 6 calves. A list of the sires is now available on the Angus Australia website Click here.

Across the six Cohorts of the ASBP, there have now been 230 modern Angus bulls enter this industry leading program.

Christian Duff, Angus Australia Strategic Projects Manager explained “Overall, the 41 new bulls entering Cohort 6 of the ASBP are a high performance group averaging in the top 5% for the Angus Breeding and Heavy Grain Indexes. Importantly this high performance is also coupled with genetic diversity”.

The 2015 joining program to produce the Cohort 6 calves is well underway with 1,766 cows across 5 herds inseminated to date. This is 69% of the total 2,575 cows across 7 co-operator herd’s to be inseminated for the year.

Each sire will be joined to approximately 60 cows to produce 30 to 35 calves. This is from a fixed time AI program utilising the Cue-Mate and Pregnecol products from Vetoquinol. For more on Vetoquinol click here
