The first calf from Cohort 7 of the Angus Sire Benchmarking Program (ASBP) was born on the 19th June 2017 at the co-operator herd owned and managed by David Butcher and Pia Thornett, “Woorak”, Bundarra, NSW.
The calf was from ASBP sire Millah Murrah Loch Up L133 from a 2-year-old heifer. The calf was born unassisted, with a birth weight of 31.2 kg and a gestation length of 272 days. To see a full list of the ASBP Cohort 7 sires click here.
The program to breed the calves utilised Cue-mate® devices and the Vetoquinol 3 event fixed time AI protocol with one round of insemination. For more see – www.repro360.com.au
Across 6 co-operator herds, Cohort 7 of the ASBP is set to produce approximately 1,005 calves, with calving to be completed by early September 2017.
