“Black” Friday bonanza on AuctionsPlus

It may have been Friday the 13th, but there was no bad luck for the cattle market where the results from AuctionsPlus just keep getting better each week. Steers again cleared the $3 mark and only a handful of heifers fell just short of the $3 mark and once again the prices for Angus and Angus cross cattle continue to fire.

Outstanding results were achieved for lighter lines of cattle, with 78 weaned Angus heifers making 450c/kg, to top the market for heifers under 250kg.

The 219kg heifers, were 6-7 months old and offered by Yellow Management Tags, Canberra ACT. They were described by Monaro Livestock assessor, Will Dixon as heifers that, ‘will tick all the boxes, whether it be breeding, feeding or backgrounding. They are from one of the Monaro’s leading Angus herds full of productivity and fertility.’

111 brothers of the heifers also made their mark on the sale, with the 235kg Angus steers finishing the sale at 441c/kg or $1,035. The 6 -7 month old steers topped the sale for steers under 250kg.

440c/kg was paid for 14 Angus heifers on account of Darbalara Property Trust, Coolac NSW. The 243kg heifers were 14-15 months old and made $1,070 per head.

49 backgrounder Angus steers, on account of GA & HJ Reis, Hannaford QLD topped the 250-300kg market, making 399c/kg or $1,010 for the 253kg steers, 9-13 months.

The Saxby Brothers partnership, Tenterfield NSW had a big sale date offering 516 across the sale. Among the highlights were their 70 Angus and Angus cross heifers, 12-14 months, 283kg that topped the heifer market for 250-300kg heifers, at 367c/kg or $1,034.

The Saxby’s also topped the steer market for steers 300-350kg with 120 Angus cross Angus cross steers, 12-15 months, 329kg making 379c/kg or $1,244.

52 backgrounder Angus cross Droughtmaster heifers sold for 345c/kg or $1,085 to reach the top price for heifers 300-350kg. The 315kg, 17-18 month old heifers were on account of Doce Pty Ltd, Roma QLD.

Heifers over 350kg reached a top of 344c/kg for 24 Angus heifers from D.L Carr, Coolac NSW. The 14-15 months of heifers were 352kg and cleared $1,210 per head.

115 Angus cows with Angus calves at foot achieved an outstanding result to make $2,275 per head to gross $261,625. The 28-30 month old cows were offered by Rimanui Farms Pty Ltd, Moree NSW
