Once you have signed in to Angus Database search, you can find animals through a number of methods. Use a ‘saved search’ to quickly find animals that meet a particular criteria.
For example, search for Sires entered into the Angus Sire Benchmarking Program via the drop down box at the top of the screen.
Once you have a list of results returned, you can move through them with your mouse or keyboard, using the up and down arrows. Clicking and ENTER on an animal will reveal its details.
You can also search for an animal by name. If you only know part of a name, just add a % to the end of the name as a wildcard.
You can also search by animal ID. Either enter the complete ID, or enter part of the animal’s ID, with a % sign on the end. Adding a % sign instructs the system to return you a list of all animals whose idents start with the letters you know.
That covers a simple search for animals when you are signed in. There are many more advanced features, but we’ll cover these in another video.
