Enhancements to Angus Database Search

May 3, 2018 12:59 pm

Angus Australia is pleased to announce that a number of enhancements have been made to the Angus Database Search facility that is available from the Angus Australia website.

The enhancements include:

  • Improved ease when signing in as a registered user
Modifications have been made to prevent the requirement for registered users to sign in each time that they access the Angus Database Search.

Once a registered user ticks the “remember my details” check box when signing in, they will now be automatically signed in as a registered user until such time as they have either a) not accessed the Angus Database Search for a period of 30 days or b) have elected to sign out.

The ability of the Angus Database Search to remember the details of a registered user is specific to a device (i.e. computer, tablet or phone) and web browser combination, meaning users will need to sign in again if they access the Angus Database Search from a different device, or use a different web browser, or haven’t accessed the Angus Database Search for 30 days.

  • Introduction of a “Summary” tab
When viewing information for an individual animal, a summary tab is now displayed by default, containing a summary of the information available on the other animal tabs.

The introduction of the summary tab displays information in a similar format to how it was displayed in the old animal enquiry facility and prevents the need for users to click on multiple tabs when they only wish to view basic information regarding an animal.

  • Modifications to the “Pedigree” tab
Modifications have been made to the pedigree tab with the introduction of a new, interactive pedigree display for each animal. The new display enables users to more easily navigate up and down an animal’s pedigree, while also displaying both the ident and name of each animal in the pedigree tree.
  • Display of “Advanced Search” options as default
The advanced search options are now visible as default for users who are signed in as a registered user, making them more accessible and user friendly.
  • Improved ease of moving between Angus Database Search, Angus SELECT, Catalogues and Angus Australia website
Additional menu items have been added, making it easier to navigate between the Angus Database Search, AngusSELECT webpage, online catalogue facilities and Angus Australia website.
  • Improved visibility of “Help” links
The link from the Angus Database Search to the comprehensive help information available in the Angus Education Centre is now displayed in bright yellow, making it more visible to users.
  • Removal of “Custom” tab
With the introduction of the default summary tab, the “custom” tab that previously enabled users to build their own customised summary tab has been disabled.

The enhancements that have been made are part of the ongoing improvement to the angus.tech software, and follow a review of the feedback that has been received since the Angus Database Search was made available in May 2017. All changes have also being implemented within the AngusSELECT tools that are available from the Angus Australia website.

A range of additional enhancements are scheduled for implementation over coming months, including the ability to easily switch between a range of default layouts for the display of search results, improved visibility of how to customise the display of search results, print reports and save searches, and the availability of new graphical reporting tools that enable registered users to analyse the results of their searches.

Any members with suggested improvements, or that require assistance with the use of the Angus Database Search facilities are encourage to contact staff at Angus Australia on (02) 6773 4600 or office@angusaustralia.com.au.
