The NSW State Committee held its annual country meeting at Mudgee on July 21st.
That evening guest speakers delivered informative talks to the committee and additional members of Angus Australia from the surrounding area.
A very well attended meeting included agenda items such as the annual Norman Lethbridge Award, the 2018 Sydney Show, and the 2017 Beef Assessment School.
Also tabled was the planning to date towards the Centenary of Angus Australia with an Angus feature show planned for Sydney Show 2019. Subcommittee chairman, Tim Lord, presented an in depth outline of activities under consideration and appropriate budget details.
Prior to the evening dinner Robert Gill from Alexander Downs, Merriwa, presented an outline of his family’s business. It was an enlightening talk describing how Alexander Downs has evolved into a substantial vertically integrated beef business controlling all stages of the production chain.
Mark Lucas from Reiland Angus, Gundagai, gave a presentation with an insight into the US beef industry. Mark has recently returned from leading a group of farmers on a US farm study tour analysing profitable beef business, with a strong connection to the Angus breed.
