Postponement of the 2020 GenAngus Future Leaders Program

Due to the concern and uncertainty created by the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19), Angus Australia and its partner, farm insurer Achmea, would like to advise that the GenAngus Future Leaders Program, which was due to take place this week in Melbourne (Victoria), will be postposed to later this year.
The eleven participants taking part in the GenAngus program have been informed of this development, and Angus Youth looks forward to hosting our young leaders of the beef industry at a later date.

Angus Australia Youth Development Officer Candice Liddle said the following,
“Unfortunately, due to a number of contributing external uncertainties posed by the coronavirus, the best course of action for us to ensure the best possible experience for those partaking in the program is to postpone it to a later date this year.
“Whilst this is an unfortunate decision we have had to make, we look forward to hosting an excellent GenAngus Program with those taking part in the coming months.”

Achmea Chief Executive Officer Emma Thomas said it is about working together to help keep people and communities safe.
“At this time of uncertainty, it is vital Achmea remains true to its vision of protecting agricultural communities by putting people first to ensure everyone’s safety and well-being.”

“Together with our partner Angus Australia, we look forward to launching the 2020 GenAngus Program at a later date and hosting the eleven GenAngus participants when is it safe to do so.”

About GenAngus
The GenAngus Program is a joint initiative between Angus Australia and Achmea and was designed to support members of Angus Australia, aged 18-40 to either start their own beef business or grow their current business, and further develop their skills to propel them into future beef industry leaders.
Participates will attend an intimate and intensive 3 day workshop with industry leading professionals, before embarking on a 12 month program with access to personalised support.
The program is targeted at people looking to start up their own business in the beef industry or take that next step in their existing business.
