Report from Angus Australia Board meeting conducted on 14th Sept 2019

The Angus Australia Board met at The Vines, WA on the 14th Sept, 2019.

The Board meeting coincided with the WA State Committee Centenary celebration at Gingin on the 13th September, and the WA Regional Forum, also conducted at The Vines on the 14th September.

The Board considered the following items:

  • Ongoing concerns about the devastating impact of drought on many members
  • Introduction of the payment of rebates to genotyping costs to members submitting hard-to-measure traits – further details to be provided to members following the November Board meeting.
  • Discussion of the role of Angus Australia in any multi-breed genetic evaluation being considered by MLA in the future.
  • Discussion on the policies and security associated with data transfer from Angus Australia to 3rd party organisations providing services to members.
  • Plans for workshop in November to explore future strategies for greater engagement of members with State Committees.

The next Board meeting will be conducted on the 28-29th November in Armidale.
