The 2018 Angus Australia New England Travel Trans-Tasman Exchange recipient Steph Frankham has jetted off over the ditch to begin her two week stay in New Zealand.
Ms Frankham, who hails from Toowoomba, Queensland, will embark on various activities involving the local beef industry during her time in New Zealand, having officially started her exchange on Sunday, October 28th.
Ms Frankham will spend time across both the North and the South Islands, visiting various Angus studs, commercial operations, dairy operations and will spend time meeting with members of the beef industry to learn about the practices in cattle operations in New Zealand. Ms Frankham will wrap up her trip by attending the Canterbury Show.
Ms Frankham credits the overall aspects of the scholarship opportunity as her reasoning for applying and has said she looks forward to experiencing different beef operations, different types of agricultural industries and being given the opportunity to network with members of the New Zealand beef industry.
Ms Frankham grew up on family beef cattle operations across the Hunter Valley and Liverpool Plains, where her family breed Shorthorn and Shorthorn cross Angus cattle. She grew up heavily involved in showing cattle and was awarded National Champion Beef Parader in 2010.
Ms Frankham has also been an active Angus Youth member, taking part in over 10 National Roundups since the age of 12. She studied a Bachelor of Production Animal Science at the University of Queensland Gatton campus and is currently studying a Diploma of Grain Management.
Ms Frankham was awarded the Trans-Tasman at the Thomas Foods International Angus Youth Roundup 2018.
The exchange will continue until Friday 16th of November, upon which Ms Frankham will return to Australia.
