After braving the cold and sleety conditions of Northern Beef Week, Angus Australia’s Education Officer, Liz Roan and Project Officer – Angus TACE, Ashleigh Horne headed down south to meet with producers during the first couple of days of The Land’s Southern Beef Week.
Taking the the wet weather with them, the first day provided some opportunity to look at cattle, but as the day wore on and the rain got heavier, so the hospitality of the hosts took centre stage, providing Ashleigh with ample opportunity to discuss TACE with members.
Day 2 saw the sun come out and it was great to the results of recent rains already having an effect on both pastures and animals.
Potential buyers were making the most of the close proximity of breeders, as familiar faces were spotted at each place.
The Beef Week visits gave Liz and Ashleigh a great insight into just how much behind the scenes work there is in running an on-farm sale.
They also found it to be an invaluable experience to have personal contact with members and listed to their feedback and concerns.
Liz and Ashleigh would like to thank all of the members who showed them such generous hospitality and took time out of their busy day to talk to them, especially when there were prospective clients that needed their attention.
