The Angus Foundation is thrilled to once again be offering five scholarships for young Angus Australia members to attend the highly regarded Tocal Beef Cattle Assessment School, proudly run by the Angus NSW Committee.
When: 1st–3rd December 2025
Where: Tocal Agricultural College, NSW
Recognised as Australia’s leading hands-on beef cattle selection course, this is your chance to gain real-world skills, build industry connections, and sharpen your beef cattle assessment ability — all while having your course costs covered!
What’s Included?
Each scholarship is valued at over $700 and covers:
- Full course registration
- Accommodation
- All meals and materials
What You’ll Learn:
- Judging and selecting beef cattle
- Structural assessment
- Using EBVs in selection
- Market suitability across Bos Taurus, Bos Indicus and cross breeds
- Industry insights and networking with leaders in the field
Scholarship Aims:
- Boost your beef industry knowledge
- Sharpen your judging and selection skills
- Connect with experienced industry professionals and other enthusiasts
Selection Criteria:
Eligibility
- Aged between 16 and 30 years
- A current member of Angus Australia and/or Angus Youth
Genuine Interest in the Beef Industry
- Demonstrated passion for beef cattle production and the wider red meat industry.
Commitment to Skill Development
- Strong desire to improve knowledge and practical skills in cattle assessment, selection, and use of genetic tools such as EBVs
Communication Skills
- Ability to clearly express goals, motivation, and the value of attending the course
- Willingness to share learnings through a post-event report.
Conditions:
Upon returning from the beef cattle assessment school the recipient must submit a report detailing their experience.
