Angus Australia Genetic Evaluation Services
Angus Australia offers a range of genetic evaluation services to members and their registered Angus and Angus-influenced animals. These services support informed selection decisions, genetic progress and improved herd performance.
Available Genetic Evaluation Services
- Angus GenetiQ – Angus Australia’s next-generation genetic evaluation platform.
- TransTasman Angus Cattle Evaluation (TACE) – A joint genetic evaluation with Angus New Zealand.
- World Angus Evaluation (WAE) – A global analysis allowing breeders to compare Angus sires internationally.
- UltraSELECT – Available for UltraBlack and Brangus animals registered in the Angus Australia Multibreed Register.
- Angus HeiferSELECT – A genomic decision-support tool for heifer selection and breeding decisions.
- Angus SteerSELECT – A genomic decision-support tool to assist with steer management and marketing decisions.
Angus GenetiQ
Angus GenetiQ is Angus Australia’s next-generation genetic evaluation platform, designed to deliver greater accuracy, faster evaluations and long-term capability for the Angus breed.
Built on Angus Australia’s extensive genotype and performance database, Angus GenetiQ uses modern analytical models and improved processing workflows to support expanded data capture, stronger genomic integration and more frequent evaluation cycles.
TransTasman Angus Cattle Evaluation
The TransTasman Angus Cattle Evaluation (TACE) is a joint genetic evaluation with Angus New Zealand, primarily conducted by BreedPLAN via ABRI.
TACE combines pedigree, performance and genomic information from Angus Australia and Angus New Zealand databases, along with selected data from American and Canadian Angus associations. It produces Estimated Breeding Values (EBVs) for economically important traits including growth, carcase and fertility.
World Angus Evaluation
The World Angus Evaluation (WAE) is a global genetic analysis of Angus cattle, allowing breeders to directly compare sires across international datasets.
WAE combines phenotype, genotype and pedigree information from the American Angus Association, Canadian Angus Association and Angus Australia. Results are reported as Expected Progeny Differences (EPDs), which are similar to EBVs.
UltraSELECT
UltraSELECT is available to Angus Australia members breeding UltraBlack and Brangus animals. It supports improved selection decisions and increased international trade of genetics.
The evaluation is available to animals registered in the Angus Australia Multibreed Register with Brahman and Angus breed composition.
Angus HeiferSELECT
Angus HeiferSELECT is a genomic decision-support tool powered by Angus GenetiQ. It provides genomic predictions to guide heifer selection and breeding decisions.
Angus SteerSELECT
Angus SteerSELECT is a genomic decision-support tool powered by Angus GenetiQ. It helps producers rank steers on genetic merit and make informed management and marketing decisions.
FAQ for Angus Genetic Evaluations
What is a Genetic Evaluation?
A genetic evaluation estimates the genetic merit of animals for key production traits, such as calving ease, growth, fertility, carcase and efficiency, using pedigree, performance and genomic information.
How do I access Angus Australia’s Genetic Evaluation Services?
Members enrolled in Angus Australia’s genetic evaluation services can access the relevant evaluation and genomic tools applicable to their animals, including Angus GenetiQ, TACE, World Angus Evaluation, UltraSELECT, Angus HeiferSELECT and Angus SteerSELECT.
What can I expect from the Genetic Evaluation Service?
