Announcing the 2026 K-State Scholarship Recipient
From Broome to Kansas, Bonnie Lunn is set to take her passion for the beef industry international after being awarded the 2026 Angus Foundation – Kansas State University (K-State) Scholarship.
Each year, the Angus Foundation awards one Angus Australia youth member a scholarship to complete a semester at Kansas State University. The program provides international experience and deepens the participants understanding of the Angus breed and broader cattle industry.
Bonnie is currently set to travel to Kansas in January 2027, following the completion of her degree at Charles Sturt University. Throughout her semester, Bonnie will gain hands-on experience with livestock, attend classes and industry events, and visit commercial and seedstock operations.
Bonnie said she hopes to gain valuable knowledge particularly in the areas of nutrition and genetics. “Most importantly, I aim to bring these insights back to Australia and share them with the wider Angus community to support future growth and innovation.”
Following her semester abroad, Bonnie will provide a report of her experiences, which will be shared with the Angus Australia community through the Bulletin and website.
Scott Wright, CEO of Angus Australia, congratulated Bonnie, saying “We look forward to following Bonnie’s journey at Kansas State and sharing her experiences with the Angus Australia community.”
“Through the Angus Foundation we are able to encourage and assist the involvement of young people in the Australian beef industry. Scholarships such as the K-State Scholarship provide professional development opportunities for young beef industry professionals for the benefit of Angus breeders and the wider Australian beef industry” he said.
A Bit About Bonnie Lunn
Bonnie has always been involved in agriculture through family farms and school, which inspired her to pursue a career in the industry despite not growing up directly on the land. In 2023, she began her studies at Longerenong College before moving to Charles Sturt University, where she is completing a Bachelor of Agricultural Business Management, due to finish in 2026.
In her current role at Northern Rural Supplies in Broome, Bonnie supports producers and pastoralists in the Kimberley with product knowledge and builds strong relationships based on trust and technical understanding. These experiences have honed her skills in leadership, communication, and livestock welfare.
