The Angus Foundation is thrilled to announce Troy Hagenbach and Ella Crowhurst as the two recipients of scholarships to attend the highly anticipated Feeder Steer School 2.0, hosted by the University of New England (UNE) in Armidale, New South Wales, from February 10 to 13, 2025. 

About Feeder Steer School 2.0 

The Feeder Steer School 2.0 is a three-day program designed to educate and inspire beef industry stakeholders, from producers and lot feeders to livestock agents and service providers. Attendees will gain practical insights into the beef value chain through interactive workshops and presentations on topics such as genetic selection, animal health, carcass value, and risk management. 

About the Scholarship Recipients 

Troy Hagenbach

Troy HagenbachAt 29 years old, Troy Hagenbach is a dedicated livestock manager at Booroomooka Angus, where he oversees both stud and commercial cattle operations. With a passion for all aspects of cattle production, Troy has worked in the industry since completing a Certificate III in Agriculture during Year 12 at Warwick. 

Troy also owns a small herd of cows, which he joins to registered Angus bulls, and he is deeply committed to breeding high-quality Angus cattle. His work includes using TACE data for selection decisions, collecting performance data across numerous traits (including BWT, MBC, CT, and docility), and performing large artificial insemination programs.  

 

 

 


Ella Crowhurst

Ella CrowhurstElla Crowhurst, 24, is a passionate cattle grazier from the Limestone Coast in South Australia. In 2022, she embarked on a transformative journey, becoming both a first-time mother and a new cattle producer. These dual responsibilities inspired her to fine-tune her skills and deepen her commitment to the beef industry. 

Ella’s production goals aligned perfectly with the qualities of the Angus breed, and her loyalty to Angus cattle has been a driving force in her career. When she’s not working with her cattle, Ella enjoys spending time with her horses and sharing her passion for agriculture with her young son.
