Red Angus Society members support proposed transition to Angus Australia
Some members may have seen an article in Queensland Country Life earlier this week regarding the proposed integration of the Red Angus Society of Australia with Angus Australia.
This is a very positive development, and Angus Australia expects to make a formal announcement in the first week of September.
A small number of procedural matters will be considered by the Angus Australia Board of Directors at its meeting at the end of August. Following that meeting, we will be in a position to provide members with further details about the proposed integration and the pathway forward.
Pleasingly, in late June, members of the Red Angus Society of Australia supported a resolution to progress becoming part of Angus Australia. This represents an important step in bringing two organisations with a common commitment to Angus cattle and the advancement of the breed back together.
The proposed integration will provide an opportunity to recognise and support both Angus and Red Angus cattle within Angus Australia, while bringing members together within a strong, unified organisation.
As CEO, I wanted to provide this brief update given that members may have seen recent media coverage. We look forward to welcoming members of the Red Angus Society of Australia and to sharing further details with both memberships following the August Board meeting.
A formal announcement and media release are expected in early September.
