Stoney Point Performance Angus has announced that they will be generously donating the proceeds from the sale of a 2021 drop heifer to the Angus Foundation.
The heifer, which will be sold at their upcoming dispersal sale, taking place March 28-29, is Lot 335 Stoney Point Annabel S002PV, a Sydgen Enhance daughter with a particularly handsome set of EBVs and genetics.

The act is in support of the Angus Foundation, of which Perry Gunner, Stoney Point Performance Angus stud principal, has a particular affiliation following his role as a member of the Angus Australia Board of Directors in previous years.
“The Angus breed and Angus Australia have been very successful; however, you can’t rest on your laurels, you have to look to the future and foundations are about the future. Therefore, to support the Angus Foundation is to support the future of the breed, which is a very important thing,” said Mr Gunner.
“If you’re talking about the future, you’re talking about the youth, they go hand in glove. To support youth and the Angus Foundation is protecting the Angus breed and Angus Australia because those youth of today are the ones running the beef industry and the breed in the future. If you don’t address their concerns or their opportunities, then where will we end up.”
The Angus Foundation provides funding for several of the Angus Youth Scholarships, Awards and Bursaries provided to young Angus members.
These awards include the Trans Tasman Travel Bursary to New Zealand, scholarships to attend the Tocal Beef Cattle Assessment Course, The LiveEX conference, the SmartBeef conference, Beef Australia and the industry leading GenAngus Future Leaders Program, as well as other opportunities.
Previously the Angus Foundation has also assisted students to attend both the University of Illinois and Kansas State University in the United States.
The Angus Foundation also has the function to support education and research to benefit the Australian beef industry and more recently Angus Australia has also been able to kickstart the research careers of young researchers with a desire to delve into areas in the Australian beef industry and more specifically the Angus breed, through support from the Angus Foundation.
The opportunity that the Angus Foundation provides young people has helped some of the industries’ brightest and most capable recipients end up in the positions they are today.
Angus Australia Breed Development Officer Jake Phillips, incidentally a previous beneficiary of funds for the Trans Tasman Travel Bursary in 2011, highlighted that without the support of generous sponsors like Stoney Point Angus and members of Angus Australia though the voluntary Foundation Levy, the Angus Foundation would not be able to provide such excellent industry experiences to young people.
“The Foundation, although supported by Angus Australia, is nearly solely reliant on member donations and other fundraising activities through the year. However, to have large significant donations such as this creates huge prospects for us to build our offering of industry leading scholarships, awards and bursaries, as well as provide world leading opportunities for further education and research to benefit the beef industry as a whole.”
