Open your gates to the next generation of Angus leaders

Angus Australia is inviting members across both Australia and New Zealand to register their interest in hosting young Angus enthusiasts through the Trans-Tasman Exchange Scholarship, helping the next generation gain valuable industry experience, build connections and broaden their understanding of Angus production systems.

Supported by the Angus Australia Foundation, the Trans-Tasman Exchange Scholarship provides young Angus members with the opportunity to explore different beef production systems, learn directly from breeders and industry professionals, and develop connections across the Tasman.

Each year, the program supports an Angus Australia member aged between 18 and 30 to undertake a self-guided tour of Australia or New Zealand, visiting Angus seedstock and commercial operations, feedlots, field days and sales.

Recipients are encouraged to spend at least four weeks experiencing the Australian or New Zealand beef industry, gaining practical insights and building relationships that can support their future involvement in agriculture.

Opening the gate to new opportunities

A key part of the exchange is the generosity of Angus breeders and industry participants who welcome young people onto their properties and share their knowledge, experiences and approaches to cattle production.

To help facilitate these connections, Angus Australia is establishing a register of members interested in hosting future scholarship recipients.

The register will provide recipients with a network of potential hosts, making it easier to plan visits and tailor their exchange to their interests.

Whether involved in seedstock production, commercial breeding, feedlot operations or another part of the Angus supply chain, members have valuable knowledge and experiences to share.

Hosting arrangements

Hosting could involve a property visit, sharing knowledge about breeding and management practices, or providing opportunities to experience day-to-day operations any possibly accommodation for a night or two.

Registering an expression of interest does not commit members to hosting on a particular date. It simply allows Angus Australia to connect interested hosts with future recipients to discuss arrangements directly.

The successful delegate will contact hosts that align with where they will be traveling for the exchange.

Strengthening connections across the Tasman

The Trans-Tasman Exchange Scholarship is an important part of Angus Australia’s commitment to developing emerging industry leaders and strengthening relationships between the Australian and New Zealand beef industries.

By sharing their experience and opening their operations to the next generation, participating members can help young people develop the knowledge, confidence and industry networks needed to contribute to the future of the Angus breed.

Australian hosts and other youth opportunities

Angus Australia also welcomes expressions of interest from members who may be willing to host other young people seeking practical industry experience, including visitors from within Australia and overseas.

Register your interest

Angus Australia invites members interested in becoming potential hosts to complete a short expression of interest form.

Members will be asked to provide their location, contact details and a brief description of their operation, helping future recipients identify suitable opportunities.

Consent and how the register will be used

Details will only be shared with scholarship recipients for the purpose of facilitating potential visits, with members’ consent.  The register will be sent to the successful delegates only who will contact hosts and organise their travel plans.

Could you help shape the next generation of Angus leaders?

Register your interest and become part of the network supporting future Angus industry talent.
