Entries Open for the 2026 Angus for Every System Feedlot & Carcase Trial 

 Angus Australia is pleased to announce that entries are now open for the 2026 Angus for Every System Feedlot & Carcase Trial, proudly hosted by Teys Australia and powered by Optiweigh. 

The trial continues to be one of the nation’s leading opportunities for producers to benchmark Angus influenced cattle in a commercial feedlot environment and access comprehensive, industry relevant performance, carcase and eating quality data. 

 This reissued notice reflects finalised trial details and eligibility settings ahead of entries opening. 

A Unique Opportunity for Producers 

This 120 plus day commercial feedlot and carcase assessment program provides participants with: 

  • Real time feedlot performance data, with all trial pens accessing Optiweigh units and daily live weight gains streamed through AngusTech 
  • Detailed carcase and MSA eating quality feedback provided post-processing 
  • Genomic insights through SteerSELECT, assisting producers to validate breeding programs and inform future decision making 
  • Independent benchmarking across 50%, 75% and 100% Angus classes in both Indicus and Non Indicus categories 

Producers and supporters will come together at the Angus for Every System Awards Dinner, to be held in conjunction with BeefEx 2026 on 24 September 2026 at the Gold Coast Convention Centre. 

Competition Structure 

 Producers may enter teams of 10 steers, with up to two teams per vendor. Eligibility requires a minimum of 50% Angus breed content, with Red Angus also eligible to participate. 

Classes will be offered across 100%, 75% and 50% Angus, including both Non Indicus and Indicus divisions, with HGP and non HGP classes included. 

Key specifications include: 

  • Weight range: 360–480 kg (ideal 380–460 kg) 
  • Dentition: 0–2 teeth (ideal 0 teeth) 
  • HGP status,  
  • Classes I & II will remain HGP Free and must not have been previously treated with HGP’s. 
  • Classes III and IV HGP’s will now be used, please ensure any animals previously treated with a HGP has had time to pay out prior to induction. 
  • 120 plus days on feed at Teys Condamine Feedlot 
  • Pre-vaccinations administered by Zoetis, using RhinoGuard and BoviShield, prior to delivery 

Awards will be presented across all classes for feedlot performance, carcase performance and eating quality, culminating in the Overall Grand Champion Pen, Reserve Champion Pen, Breeders Cup, and Teys sponsored Angus categories. 

Key Dates 

  • Entries open: 19 January 2026 
  • Entries close: 1 March 2026 
  • Delivery to Teys Condamine Feedlot: 20 April 2026 
  • Induction at feedlot: 21–22 April 2026 
  • Processing: End of August 2026 
  • Results announced: 24 September 2026, at BeefEx 2026
