Driving Better Breeding Decisions – WA Angus Commercial Producer Workshop
Angus Australia in conjunction with WA Angus & Rhodes Pastoral is bringing a practical, hands-on workshop to Western Australia this September, designed to help commercial cattle producers make more informed breeding and herd management decisions.
Driving Better Breeding Decisions will be held at Rhodes Pastoral, Dinninup, on Friday 11 September, bringing together practical information on genetics, genomics, nutrition, female selection and structural assessment.
The workshop is aimed particularly at young and emerging commercial cattle producers, with both Angus Australia members and non-members welcome to attend.
Throughout the day, participants will hear from Angus Australia’s Brad Hine on genetics, genomics and navigating Angus.Tech, while Bridget Watkins, SW WA Regional Soil Coordinator, will discuss optimising nutrition for the breeding herd.
John Curtin, Cattle Manager at Rhodes Pastoral, will provide an insight into the Rhodes Pastoral beef operation, followed by an interactive panel discussion and Q&A session.
The afternoon will move into practical workshops, including an Angus HeiferSELECT session examining how genomic information can support commercial replacement heifer selection, followed by a structural assessment workshop with the WA Angus team.
The day provides an opportunity for producers to build their knowledge, ask questions, connect with other producers and explore practical tools that can support better breeding decisions within their own businesses.
