Take Your Passion for Angus Global with the University of Illinois Scholarship
The University of Illinois Scholarship, supported by the Angus Foundation, offers a remarkable opportunity for one young Angus Australia member to immerse themselves in agricultural study and student life in the United States. With a focus on livestock genetics, beef production, and animal science, the University of Illinois is internationally recognised as a leader in these fields.
Valued at $15,000, the scholarship supports travel and tuition for a semester abroad in Champaign, Illinois, where the successful applicant joins a vibrant academic community and gains hands-on experience across all facets of the U.S. beef industry. From living on campus and attending classes alongside American students, to training and competing with the university’s livestock and meat judging teams, the experience is both educational and transformative.
Throughout the semester, scholars travel across the U.S. to attend competitions, industry events, and site visits — gaining valuable exposure to different production systems and building networks with peers and professionals from around the world. The program begins with attendance at the iconic National Western Stock Show in Denver and offers extensive opportunities to grow both personally and professionally.
Open to Angus Australia members aged 18 to 25, the scholarship is best suited to individuals with livestock or meat judging experience, a strong interest in genetics or beef production, and a desire to represent Australian Angus on the global stage. It’s more than a study tour — it’s a launchpad for future leaders in the red meat industry.
