In a showing of overwhelming support and generosity, over $49,000 was raised for the Angus Youth at the recent NH Foods Angus Youth National Roundup Gala Dinner.

Taking place on Sunday, January 13th, the Roundup Gala dinner brought to together the Roundup Organising Committee, the sponsors, ballot cattle providers, volunteers, parents and the competitors for a final evening of prize giving and fundraising.

The event was opened with a welcome from Stephan Moy, Livestock Manager, Wingham Beef Exports, representing the major sponsor, NH Foods Australia.

“Ladies and gentlemen, participants from the Angus Roundup. On behalf of NH Foods, I’d just like to thank Angus Australia for the opportunity once again to be able to sponsor the event this time,” said Mr Moy. “I think it’s been a really good event to the organising committee. I think you’ve done an absolutely outstanding job.

“To the participants, I think everybody probably would have gained a lot of knowledge and a lot of experience out of it. I think everybody I’ve seen represented themselves and their families very well, congratulations to you,” he said.

The proceedings of the evening included comments from Peter Godbolt, Southeast stud stock manager, representing Nutrien Ag Solutions, who served as the auctioneers for the evening, Angus Australia CEO Scott Wright and David Hobbs, representing as President of the Red Angus Society of Australia, who sponsored the dinner event.

Following speeches, the prize giving section of the evening commenced, with the bestowment of the Roundup Special and a selection of competition awards on their worthy recipients.  VIEW THE ROUNDUP RESULTS WRAP UP HERE

Following a delicious dinner of Angus Beef, the auction kicked off under the command of Matt Campion, Nutrien Stud Stock, Dubbo and interfaced by AuctionsPlus.

Thanks to the tremendously generous support of bidders around the country, an incredible $49,493 was raised for the Angus Foundation, eclipsing results from previous event auctions.

With 579 registered bidders for the auction, the support was truly felt from all over the country.  All funds raised from the auction go directly to the Angus Foundation, which provides a mechanism for members and other beef industry stakeholders to support youth development, education and research programs conducted by Angus Australia.

These programs are designed to encourage and assist the involvement of young people in the Australian beef industry, to provide professional development opportunities for young beef breeders, and to assist in conducting research, development and educational programs for the benefit of Angus breeders and the wider Australian beef industry.

Speaking to AuctionsPlus, Roundup Event Coordinator Toni Nugent said, “We’re over the moon with the results from the auction.

“All of that money that we’ve raised goes back into the Angus Youth program to continue to provide opportunities via workshops, scholarships and travel bursaries for our youth to continue to go out there and network and learn and build on their knowledge.”

The top price from the auction went to the Pick the Pair auction item, from two heifers kindly donated by Trent Walker and Rob Swinton, Keringa Angus, Culburra, selling to $12,500.
