The late Andrew Gubbins recognised in the 2021 Australia Day Awards

The 2021 Australia Day Awards included the recognition of the late Mr Andrew Sladen Gubbins with a Medal of the Order of Australia for service to the beef cattle industry.

Mr Gubbins was a Member of Angus Australia for almost 50 years (since 1971) and a strong supporter of the role of the Society in the Beef Industry.  He was an active member of the Victorian State Committee during the 1980s-90s and served as a Federal Councillor from 1988 to 1995.  Mr Gubbins served as Vice-President of the Society during 1992.  Whilst on the Council of Angus Australia Mr Gubbins was particularly active in leading technical debate and promoting breed development initiatives and assisted in setting policies ensuring the strong financial position of the organisation.

In recognition of the service by Mr Gubbins to Angus Australia, and the life-time contributions made to the development of the Angus breed, the Board of Angus Australia conferred an Honorary Life Membership awards to Mr Gubbins and his wife Mary Gubbins in 2013.
