Applications Open for the 2026 NH Foods Australia Angus Foundation Cadetship

Angus Australia, in partnership with NH Foods Australia, is proud to announce that applications are now open for the 2026 NH Foods Australia Angus Foundation Cadetship.

Delivered through the Angus Foundation, the cadetship offers one young Angus Australia member the opportunity to gain a genuine whole of supply chain experience within one of Australia’s leading integrated beef companies.

Across four weeks, the successful applicant will step inside NH Foods Australia’s operations, gaining exposure to feedlot finishing at Whyalla Beef, processing at Oakey in Queensland and Wingham in New South Wales, and time within the company’s Sydney head office working alongside marketing and branded beef sales teams. From cattle production through to premium beef programs reaching global markets, the cadet will see firsthand how each part of the business connects.

The program is designed to be practical, immersive and tailored to the individual’s interests. Working closely with NH Foods Australia, the recipient will follow a personalised development pathway that builds confidence, expands technical knowledge and opens doors to professional networks across the beef industry.

Angus Australia Chief Executive Officer Scott Wright said the cadetship shows the enthusiasm and ambition of the next generation coming through the Angus community.

“Opportunities like this are incredibly important for young people who want to understand the full picture of our industry,” Mr Wright said.

“The NH Foods cadetship allows participants to see how cattle move through the entire supply chain. This illustrates the “big picture” of the beef industry professionalism behind delivering a premium eating experience to consumers.

“It is always encouraging to see the enthusiasm of our young members. Programs such as this show there is no question that the industry will have adequate leadership in the future .”

Andrew McDonald, NH Foods Australia Director, believes the cadetship offers a rare perspective on the industry.

“What makes this cadetship unique is the chance to see the entire beef supply chain in action. From breeding and feeding, through processing, and all the way to marketing and sales, the selected cadet gets to experience how each step connects.”

“It’s a rare opportunity to witness the start of the journey all the way through to the end result and gain an understanding on how a vertically integrated business like ours operates to deliver a premium product to our customers.”

Following the industry placement, the successful cadet will complete the Marcus Oldham Rural Leadership Program, an intensive five-day residential course in Geelong, Victoria. The program focuses on developing leadership capability, strengthening communication skills and preparing participants to confidently represent their industry and community.

Together, the industry placement and leadership course create a powerful professional development experience, combining hands on exposure with formal leadership training.
