Angus Australia is seeking a passionate and motivated Extension Officer to join our team in a Permanent Full-Time capacity.   This role offers flexibility to work remotely from anywhere in Australia, with regular travel required to connect with members and support field-based activities.

About the Role

Working closely with the Extension Manager, the Extension Officer will play a key role in delivering support and education to Angus Australia members in the application of genetic improvement technologies and other Angus Australia services. It’s a diverse and hands-on role, combining producer engagement, content development, event delivery and collaboration across the beef supply chain.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide advice and technical support to producers on cattle breeding, genetics, related technologies and other Angus Australia services;
  • Engage with members via phone, email, digital channels and on-farm visits;
  • Deliver high-impact education programs, both in-person and online, including youth initiatives;
  • Develop content for newsletters, fact sheets, web resources, and industry publications;
  • Support the planning and delivery of field days, regional forums, training events, and workshops;
  • Contribute to the development of Angus Australia’s online education centre;
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and networks across the beef supply chain to align extension messaging and opportunities;
  • Contribute to the development of decision-making tools and extension strategies;
  • Represent Angus Australia in a professional and solutions-focused manner.

What matters most is your ability to connect with producers, communicate effectively, and contribute positively to both the Angus community and the broader beef industry.

Ideally you will bring:

  • A tertiary qualification in agriculture, animal science or a related field;
  • Knowledge of beef cattle breeding, genetics, and genetic improvement principles;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • A passion for education and capacity-building;
  • Experience developing or delivering extension or training materials (preferred);
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote working environment;
  • A collaborative and proactive approach to supporting producers and colleagues.
