Be prepared to get wet during the Barnyard Olympics on Wednesday afternoon! Bring a change of clothes if you would like to head home for the night in dry clothes.
Please take some time read the important information below in the lead up to Roundup.
See you in Tamworth on Wednesday!

Clothing and packing
It’s going to be hot in Tamworth so please remember to be sun-safe and bring sunscreen, a hat and a drink bottle. Water stations will be on-site for competitors to fill up their drink bottles throughout the day and don’t forget to reapply sunscreen throughout the day!
What to pack – work clothes (i.e jeans, work shirts, shorts), enclosed shoes/workboots and good shirts (for judging).
Competitors can wear good shirts and jeans or breed uniform for cattle judging classes on Friday morning.
All competitors will be required to wear their Roundup polo shirts for paraders on Saturday morning.
In regard to cattle and gear, if you have your own show cane feel free to bring it along with whatever you would normally pack and take to cattle shows. If you are using a ballot animal, the stud providing your animals will normally provide all the gear but please check in with them (email introductions were done prior to Christmas) to check if they require you to bring anything.
Daryl Holder, The Cattle Shop, will be onsite for the duration of the Roundup and will have gear available to purchase should you require anything.
Venue details
Entry to AELEC and parking is via Gate 2. When you first arrive at Gate 2 at AELEC, you will be given a site map which will list the gate access code. You will need to enter this access code each time you arrive and leave the site in order to open and close the gate.
AELEC staff will be in the watch-house at Gate 2 from 3-6pm Tuesday 7 January for those bumping in cattle during this time, and again from 10am onwards on Wednesday 8 January. The gate will not be manned from Thursday – Sunday.
For those camping at AELEC, please enter via Gate 2 and follow Horseshoe Drive around to your camping sites located behind Stable Blocks D and E (southern side of the venue). There is a toilet block located at the end of Stable Block E that can be used for the duration of your stay. The camping area will be partitioned off from the general parking area.
If you have friends or family coming to watch any of the competition during the event, please ask them to park in the public carpark at the front of the AELEC venue and enter via the main entry. Please do not give out the access code for entry via Gate 2, this entry is only for competitors.
Roundup registrations
Registrations will open from 10am Wednesday 8 January. All competitors must present to the Roundup Office (see site map and program) upon arrival, where you will be marked off the registration list and given your competitor bib and registration pack which contains the following:
Cattle bump in
For those bringing cattle, bump in is Tuesday 7 January 3-6pm and Wednesday 8 January 10am-1pm. All trucks must enter AELEC through Gate 2 and follow Horseshoe Drive around to the Undercover cattle yards to unload on the southern side of the AELEC venue. Please note – No cattle or gear are to be on the grounds before 3pm Tuesday 7 January.
It will be hot in Tamworth so don’t forget to bring fans if you have them for your cattle.
Please ensure that all your gear (e.g. blowers, clippers, leads, fans) is tested and tagged prior to arriving at AELEC.
Security will be onsite overnight in the cattle sheds during the event.
Cattle details
There are still some outstanding pestivirus and animal health declarations. It is a requirement of entry that these documents are submitted – failure to do so may mean cattle cannot be received into the competition. Your NVD must be submitted on arrival at AELEC – don’t forget to include the AELEC Property Identification Code – NH508378.
Please send all outstanding paperwork through as a matter of urgency to Toni Nugent, E: toni@toninugent.com.au by Tuesday 7 January 2025.
Commercial cattle classes
For those bringing commercial cattle, we will be running commercial breeding heifer and trade animal classes. Please give some consideration to which class you would like to enter your cattle into and advise the committee members who are assisting with bump in when you arrive at AELEC.
