The road to Bendigo begins! Registrations are now open for the 2027 Angus Youth National Roundup, bringing young beef industry enthusiasts from across Australia together from 13–16 January 2027 for four days of education, competition, connection and opportunity.

Angus Australia’s flagship youth development event will return to Victoria in 2027, welcoming participants aged 8–25 for an action-packed program designed to build practical skills, confidence, friendships and connections across the Australian beef industry.

From cattle preparation, handling and judging to educational workshops, leadership development and industry engagement, Roundup offers an experience that extends well beyond the show ring.

Whether you’re a seasoned competitor or attending for the first time, Roundup provides an opportunity to learn from industry professionals, develop new skills and connect with other young people who share a passion for agriculture.

Your Roundup story starts here

One of Roundup’s greatest strengths is its ability to bring together young people from different backgrounds and with varying levels of cattle experience.

You don’t need to own cattle or have years of showing experience to take part.

Participants who are new to the industry are encouraged to get involved, with educational sessions, practical activities and competitions designed to support learning and build confidence.

For returning competitors, Bendigo offers another opportunity to challenge themselves, reconnect with friends and continue developing their skills.

For first-time participants, it could be the beginning of a much longer journey with Angus Youth and the Australian beef industry.

More than a cattle competition

While the show ring remains at the heart of Roundup, the event is equally focused on developing the next generation of industry participants.

Across five days, competitors will have opportunities to explore the wider beef supply chain, engage with industry leaders and discover potential career pathways in agriculture.

Educational activities, teamwork and practical competitions complement the friendships and industry networks that have become synonymous with the Roundup experience.

The popular Gala Dinner will also bring participants, families, sponsors and industry supporters together to celebrate the achievements of Angus Youth.

Celebrating 40 years of Roundup

The 2027 event holds special significance, marking 40 years since the first event bearing the Roundup name was held in Glen Innes, New South Wales, in 1987.

What began as a four-day youth heifer show has grown into one of Australia’s largest youth cattle events, typically attracting approximately 250 competitors alongside families, volunteers, sponsors and industry supporters.

While the program has evolved considerably over four decades, its purpose remains unchanged: creating opportunities for young people to learn, build confidence, develop lasting connections and become involved in the Australian beef industry.

As Roundup heads to Bendigo, a new generation will have the opportunity to become part of that story.
