Special Awards Await Competitors at the 2026 Angus Youth National Roundup
Thanks to the generous support of the following businesses, a range of special awards will be available to competitors at the 2026 Angus Youth National Roundup.
Please note, entries for the following awards close 5pm Monday 15 December 2025.
Bill Mayne/Texas Angus Roundup Award
Bill Mayne lived and breathed Angus cattle. His passion for Texas Angus was unmatched, with his cattle achieving numerous Championship titles at Royal Shows across Australia. His success in the show ring led to invitations to judge at many Royal Shows nationwide. Bill was an exceptional cattleman, renowned for his sharp eye in selecting top-quality cattle. His vision and dedication laid the strong foundations of what Texas Angus is today. He was also deeply committed to supporting and encouraging the younger generation in the beef industry.
This award is dedicated to honouring Bill’s legacy. It will be presented to an intermediate (16-17yrs) or senior (18-25yrs) recipient attending the Angus Roundup who may not yet have had the opportunity to experience the Angus seedstock industry. The award covers the recipients registration fee for the 2026 Roundup. In addition to the award, the recipient will receive a year of mentoring with Ben and Wendy Mayne of Texas Angus. Like Bill, Ben and Wendy are passionate about supporting the next generation of the beef industry and are proud to offer this award at the 2026 Angus Youth Roundup.

2026 Angus Youth Roundup Encouragement Award
To be considered for the 2026 Angus Youth Roundup Encouragement Award, a participant must exhibit the following attributes:
The winner of this award receives a set of clippers. All Roundup participants are eligible for this award.

Merridale Angus Aspiring Breeder Award
The Merridale Angus Aspiring Breeder Award is in recognition of an Angus Youth member who does not already have an Angus stud or the financial backing to start their own immediately but has a strong desire to breed their own Angus cattle. The Collins family believe it is important to support youth in the industry and give them as many opportunities as possible to start their own cattle breeding operation. The recipient of this award will receive a registered Angus heifer from the Merridale Angus stud. All Roundup participants are considered for this award.

Matthew George Citizenship Award
Matthew George was a keen cattleman who was tragically killed in a car accident. This award is presented in his honour to someone who displays good cooperation and goes out of their way to help others at the Roundup. The winner receives a $500 educational bursary to put towards an activity of their choice. This award is proudly sponsored by the Victorian Angus State Committee. All Roundup participants are considered for this award.

2026 Raff Angus Internship
Want to work alongside the Raff Angus team on-farm on their King Island property learning the different components of their business? The Raff Angus internship is open to senior competitors (18-25yrs).

2026 Nowendoc Run Internship
Want to gain hands-on experience in a leading commercial Angus operation? Open to Intermediate (16–17 yrs) and Senior (18–25 yrs) competitors, the Nowendoc Run Internship offers the chance to spend a week working alongside the team at Nowendoc Run in northern NSW.
Internship details are outlined below.
Duration: 1 week
Timing: To be determined when awarded – typically during peak seasons of pregnancy testing/weaning (October–November or February–March)
Travel: Travel covered from nearest major centre, with pick-up and return from Tamworth, Armidale, or Newcastle airport.
Accommodation and Meals: Provided
Join the Nowendoc Run team to experience the day-to-day operations of a dynamic Angus enterprise and gain valuable insight into breeding, herd management, and seasonal cattle work.

Senior Bursary
Senior competitors (18-25yrs) are given the opportunity to apply for a bursary to be used towards educational studies or tours. The bursary is valued at $800 and can be used for things such as course fees, conference fees, travel and accommodation.

Intermediate Bursary
Intermediate competitors who will be 16 years old as at the dates of the 2026 Tocal Beef Cattle Assessment Course (i.e. December 2026) are given the opportunity to apply for a bursary to attend the Tocal Beef Cattle Assessment Course. This award provides the recipient with $650 to cover the entry fee for the course. The course covers a wide range of topics ranging from using EBV’s, structural conformation and selection of market utilising Bos Taurus and Bos Indicus breeds and their crosses and will help participants through developing practical skills and information, presenting networking opportunities.
2026 Roundup competitors (16 yrs) will be eligible to apply.

The Angus Australia Business Branding Award
This award is designed to help an Angus Youth Member either with a business or in the process of starting their own business to create a visual identity for their brand. The recipient of this award will receive a branding package comprised of a custom logo design, five (5) professionally designed images for digital marketing, business card design, one half page advertisement which will be published in the Angus Bulletin and a case study of the creative process and recipient promoted by the Angus society.
2026 Roundup competitors will be eligible to apply.

2026 Angus Youth Roundup Marketing Competition
Target Livestock and Branded Ag Marketing have teamed up to provide the opportunity for Roundup participants to build their networks, meet new people and enrich their knowledge of the Australian beef industry.
Participants are encouraged to reach out to businesses/breeders — including but not limited to — stud or commercial breeders, breed association members, feed companies, reproduction service providers, butchers/meat processors and any other business/professional involved in the agricultural industry. The focus is on building an authentic connection and understanding of the business/breeder of your choice and work to create a submission that promotes and shares their products and/or services to the wider community. Winners of each age group will receive a cash prize.
SENIORS:
Option 1: Create a 5-7 minute video interview with a person representing the business or breeding program of your choice. Explore the important information about the business, their background, their vision and how they are making a positive impact/contribution in our agriculture industry. Aim to gain a deep overview of their program, what makes them unique/differentiated in the market and how they work to build the future of their business.
Option 2: Create a 5-7 minute podcast interview with a person representing the business or breeding program of your choice. Explore the important information about the business, their background, their vision and how they are making a positive impact/contribution in our agriculture industry. Aim to gain a deep overview of their program, what makes them unique/differentiated in the market and how they work to build the future of their business.
SUB INTERS & INTERS:
Option 1: Create a 2-4 minute video where you explain or describe your chosen business/breeding program. Include important information about the business, their background, vision and how they are making a positive impact/contribution in our agriculture industry.
Option 2: Design a 2-3 page advertorial story for the business/breeding program of your choice. Include important information about the business, their background, vision and how they are making a positive impact/contribution in our agricultural industry. Be sure to include pictures and create an eye-catching design.
PEE WEE & JUNIORS:
Option 1: Design a 1 page ad that would run in a newspaper or magazine to promote the business/breeding program of your choice. Include 5 important points about the business, what they do and how they work. Don’t forget to include some pictures.
Option 2: Write a ½ – 1 page story on your chosen business or breeding program. Include 5 important points about the business, what they do and how they work.
